PDFMake a PDF of your text design.

publisherSend your text PDF to us, or burn a CD and mail it. A signed quote and a deposit of half down will get us started! We send printed proofs within 3 business days. We do not make corrections to PDF files. If you see something on your text proof you would like to change, you must provide us a revised PDF file. Processing a new file after the first proof will cost $30.00. Additional printed proofs after the first proof cost $24 for BW text ($42 for color text). We can also email additional proofs for $10.

Color Text Setup

We print color interior pages digitally. Our color digital printing is especially good for text-driven books with color photos in sections. We do not specialize in coffee-table books, photography, or children's books. Our maximum quantity for books with color interior pages is 500 books. Larger quantities with color digital text pages are not cost-effective for us to produce.

Coated Paper and Full Color Text

For softcover books, we print color pages using uncoated paper only. We feel the glue adheres to the coating on the paper, rather than the paper fibers, making a poor bind. We will print on coated paper if the binding will be sewn.

Color Tips

One difficulty in digital color printing is matching color. All color printers are different. We cannot match exactly to your color printout, although we will strive to come as close as possible.

You may use a mix of RGB and CMYK images and graphics. You will get the richest colors using RGB for images. Set solid areas of color as CMYK builds (for best printing, we recommend using Noise in Photoshop to create an all-over pattern in solid colors).

For color settings, we recommend using North American Prepress color settings and embedding them within your files. We recommend using Adobe RGB for your RGB working space, and SWOP for your CMYK working space. If you do not assign profiles to your images, we will only be able to shoot for "pleasing color." If you do assign profiles properly, our equipment is set to not convert them, however, the color will most likely not match your home printer.

Small type should be 100% black. Using any CMYK color (other than 100% black) for small type will result in blurriness.

Photos and Images

We recommend that your images be 300 dpi. Images that are less than 300 will print poorly, especially photos taken from the web, which are typically 72 dpi. Bleeds

When a book has photos, boxes, text or images that “touch” the edge of the page (on any side) it is considered a bleed. This will require special consideration when setting up the text file, see the PDF Text Bleeds for instructions.

Text bleeds may result in higher printing costs if it becomes necessary to go to the next larger size for the bleeds, and then trim down. For example, if your book size will be 5.5x8.5, your file must be 6x9 (.25 taller and wider) to allow for the bleed to be trimmed off.
