What to Send
1. Signed quote. You may obtain an Instant Quote (for softcover books) or Special quote (for hardcover and color interior books) from this website, or request a quote by phone.
2. Your deposit. We will not start your project without payment. We require a deposit of half down (50% of the quoted price). If paying by check, money order or cashier's check, please include it with your order. Or you can call during business hours with a credit card payment.
3. Your book materials. You can mail your book materials on CD, DVD or thumb drive. If Gorham Printing is doing the design work, send details and instructions for the design. If Gorham Printing will be scanning photos, it is recomended to send the highest quality reproduction for us to scan (however, we recommend sending duplicates of your manuscript and photos, rather than the originals). Gorham Printing is not responsible for original photos or files. We will return your originals after the design process is complete.
3. Design Worksheet. If Gorham Printing will be designing your text or cover, please fill out the Design sheet and mail, fax, upload or email it to us with your book materials.

If sending by mail, the package should include the deposit, signed quotation and book materials. Send to:

Call 1-800-837-0970 during business hours (M-F, 8am to 4:30pm PST) with your credit card number to make the deposit.
Upload all book files.

When we receive your order:
We will go through your materials to make sure all the items we need are there. A representative from our office will contact you to let you know we have received the items.
If you have submitted PDF files. Within 3 business days your file will be preflighted (evaluated) to check file quality, missing fonts, image placement and page size and other checks. If the file passes all preflight checks, it moves to the proofing stage.
If Gorham Printing is doing the design work. Your materials will be passed to the designer that will work on your job. The designer will contact you with any questions. Allow 5-10 business days, for the design process. In the case of custom design, the designer will email thumbnail samples for your review. Thumbnails are not sent for template design. Once the design is completed and checked, it moves to the proofing stage.
A Printed proof will be sent. We will print a proof of your text and cover, and mail it to you along with proof forms that need to be signed and returned. The proof will be digitally printed, and will not be bound. The cover will be hand-trimmed and wrapped around the cover, but will not be laminated or bound with the text.
Review the printed proof. Take as long as you like to review the proof. Keep in mind, however, that the production clock does not begin until we have received a signed proof form that the job is ready for printing. From this point, it takes:

Allow one week for changes or to process new PDF files. If you have several rounds of proofs, this will cause time delays. The production clock does not start until we have received the final "okay" from your signed proof form.
Changes & Additional Proofs
Initial text and cover processing and proofs are free.
Customer Supplied PDFs:
$30 Process a revised Text PDF file
$15 Process a revised Cover PDF file
Processing your file includes checking for issues that would create problems in the printing process such as low resolution images, text color, margins, page size and count, numbering, bleeds, screens and fonts. For covers, this also includes checking barcode quality, proper crops, spine marks and bleeds.

Gorham Printing Design Work:
$80 per hour to make editorial changes to text
Editorial changes refer to rewriting rather than changes to design elements.

Additional Proofs:
$24 Printed BW Text proof
$42 Printed Color Text proof
$10 Emailed Text proof (BW or Color)
$8 Printed Cover proof
$5 Emailed Text proof (BW or Color)
Mailed proofs are sent via USPS Priority mail. Color of emailed proofs is only approximate when viewed onscreen.
